Switching

Switching is the easy part.

Your bookings, customers and vehicles come with you. Whether you are on VEVS or running the whole thing off a spreadsheet and your inbox, you do not start from zero, and you do not switch everything on day one.

Ninety days free on the full stack, no card to start.

This is the import wizard, not a mockup.

Upload your export, Glovebox recognises a VEVS file and pre-fills the mapping, and you check every field before anything is created.

The external reference is the dedupe key: rows already imported are skipped, so bringing your history over never doubles a booking.

The honest answers

What you are actually worried about

What happens to my existing bookings?

They come across. Glovebox has a CSV import wizard that maps your columns, dedupes customers by email, and creates the matching vehicles and locations as it goes. If you are coming from VEVS, it recognises a VEVS export and pre-fills the mapping. Imported bookings are marked as imported, so bringing your history over never re-charges a customer or re-sends a confirmation. Full payment and deposit history is a hands-on migration we run with you rather than a self-serve upload, and we will tell you plainly which parts are automatic and which we do together.

How long does it take?

The import itself runs in minutes once your columns are mapped. How long the whole switch takes depends on how much history you move and how clean the export is, so we will not put a number on your season from a marketing page. The part that takes real time is checking the numbers came across correctly and deciding your cutover week, and that is a judgement call we make with you, not a progress bar.

Can I run both systems in parallel?

Yes, and we recommend it. The Glovebox booking widget is a single script tag that drops into the website you already have, so it can take live bookings while your old system keeps running. There is no exclusivity lock and nothing forces you to switch everything at once. Run a week of real hires through Glovebox, trust the numbers, then move the rest.

What if it goes wrong mid-season?

This is exactly why we do not flip everything at once. Because you run both systems in parallel and pick your own cutover week, your old system stays available as your fallback until you are confident. If something does not look right, you have a person to call, not a ticket queue. We migrated our own fleet off VEVS the same way, so we have hit the snags you will hit.

Do my customers notice anything?

Not unless you want them to. The booking widget carries your brand, not ours, so a customer booking on your site still sees your business. Bringing historical bookings across does not trigger a fresh confirmation or a payment request, because imported bookings are marked as imported and skip those messages. Your customers keep dealing with you; the plumbing behind them changes.

What if I want to leave Glovebox later?

Your data is yours, and we would rather tell you the honest state of that than promise a magic export button. Today you can export your bookings and a period financial report to CSV, pull any booking's tax invoice or hire agreement as a PDF, and sync your accounting to Xero. Self-serve exports for your full customer list, fleet records and photos are not there yet. If you ever leave, ask us and we will get you a complete copy of your data. We would rather earn the next month than lock you in, which is the same answer you will find on the pricing overview.

Questions

Switching, answered

Which systems can you import from?

Any system that can export a CSV of your bookings and customers. The import wizard maps your columns, and if you are coming from VEVS it recognises a VEVS export and pre-fills the mapping for you. Your fleet imports from a spreadsheet the same way. We do not have a one-click connector for every rival platform, so anything beyond a CSV is a migration we run with you rather than pretending a button does it.

Do I need to be technical to migrate?

No. The import wizard is built for operators, not developers: upload your file, confirm the columns it has matched, preview the result, and confirm. For the parts that are not self-serve, such as bringing across full payment history, we do the work with you. You will never be left staring at a config file.

Will my website or my SEO change?

Only if you want them to. The booking widget is a single script tag that drops into the site and domain you already have, so your website and its rankings stay exactly where they are. If you would rather move to a Glovebox website later, that is a separate decision you make on your own timeline, not a condition of switching.

Can you bring across our photos and documents?

Be warned that this is a gap today. Condition photos, handover images and stored documents from your old system are not part of the self-serve import, and we would rather say so than imply otherwise. Bookings, customers and vehicles come across cleanly; historical media is a manual conversation. Ask us and we will tell you honestly what is realistic for your setup.

What does a migration cost?

The self-serve imports are part of the platform, not a paid add-on. Where we do hands-on migration work with you, we will scope it plainly before you commit, rather than surprise you with a bill. Talk to us and we will give you a straight answer for your fleet and your history.

What happens after the trial, and can I leave later?

You pick a plan and carry on with full access, on monthly pricing with no small-print platform fees. If you ever decide to leave, your data is yours: you can export your bookings and a period financial report to CSV, pull invoices and agreements as PDFs, and sync accounting to Xero. We would rather earn the next month than lock you in. See how it is priced on the pricing overview.

How we know it works

We run our own fleet on it.

Glovebox runs Jimny Rentals NZ and Dream Drives day to day. The same booking engine, the same imports and the same pre-pickup flow you see on this site are the ones we use on that fleet.

No other vendor in this market runs their own hire fleet, so this is not a case study we bought. When you talk to Adam, you are talking to an operator who has done the switch, not a sales team.
