Glovebox

Glovebox is hire software for New Zealand.

Bookings, deposits, GST, CoF dates, bonds, the widget on your site, Windcave and Stripe Connect, Xero sync. The boring parts done properly, in one system that knows it is not pretending to be US software.

The platform

Built in Christchurch for hire operators across New Zealand.

Under the bonnet

What it handles

I wanted one place for the jobs that used to leak across VEVS, spreadsheets, and three browser tabs. This is the list I care about; yours might reorder it.

  • Bookings and widget Embeddable flow, availability, confirmations. Customer stays on your site.
  • Payments Windcave-first, Stripe Connect where it fits, bonds and hire charges with NZ expectations in mind.
  • GST and documents GST-native pricing and paperwork. RUC and bond treatment where it matters.
  • 4WD interior view through the side mirror showing a dusty gravel road behind
Check-in on a back road, not at a desk.
  • Compliance nudges CoF reminders for hire vehicles. Operators know why that wording matters.
  • Xero Accounting sync so you are not re-keying every job into Xero by hand.

Local detail

Built here, for NZ hire

If you have run hires here, you have already argued with a US booking stack about GST, bonds, and date formats. Glovebox is coded for Pacific/Auckland, NZD, and the paperwork habits NZ operators actually use. CoF on the vehicles that need it, not WoF language pasted in from overseas.

Coming off VEVS or a patchwork of tools is a migration conversation, not a magic button. The point is a single NZ-shaped system so you are not paying twice for the same data.

Why it exists

Scratch-built for the messy middle

I got tired of software that demoed well and then failed the first time you explained a bond refund to a customer. Glovebox is my answer to that: fewer promises, more NZ-shaped detail, fewer apologies in the inbox.

You will still have edge cases. The goal is that the platform does not add new ones on purpose.

Straight questions

Is Glovebox only for cars?
No. Cars, campervans, boats, bikes, trailers, gear hire — if you take bookings and money in NZ, the same GST and bond headaches show up. Glovebox is shaped around that.
Do customers stay on my website?
Yes. You embed the widget on your site. Availability, pricing, and confirmations run in Glovebox behind it.
How do payments work?
Windcave is the primary path for NZ card flows. Stripe Connect sits alongside where it suits your setup. Bonds and hire charges follow local expectations.
Does it handle GST properly?
Yes. NZD pricing, GST on charges, and the odd cases like bonds and RUC are handled the way NZ operators expect, not the way a US SaaS manual guesses.
Can I leave spreadsheets or VEVS?
Yes, but plan for a migration window. Import what you need, run the next season of hires in Glovebox, and expand into reporting when you are ready.
What happens after the trial?
You pick a plan and carry on with full access. Monthly pricing, no small-print platform fees.
